Trails

Portsmouth Black Heritage Trail, Inc. is a self-guided walking and driving tour of 24 Portsmouth sites representing more than 350 years of documented history of Africans and Black Americans in New Hampshire. P.O. Box 5094, Portsmouth, NH, 03802-5094, 603-431-2768, pbhtrail@aol.com.

The Portsmouth Harbour Trail is an ideal way to explore Portsmouth's historic downtown. The Trail is divided into three loops, which wind their way through the downtown and waterfront areas. The easy-to-read Guide enables visitors to explore the narrow streets in a self-guided tour. Regularly scheduled tours are also offered by knowledgeable guides. Greater Portsmouth Chamber of Commerce, 500 Market Street, PO Box 239, Portsmouth, NH, 03802, 603-436-3988, info@portsmouthchamber.org.

Portsmouth Peace Treaty Trail was created by members of the Portsmouth Peace Treaty Anniversary Committee.  Together, they spent several months researching details on the sites that played important roles in the events of August and September 1905.  For the first time, scholars and visitors can follow a day-by-day account of the formal/informal diplomacy and both public and private events to learn how "an uncommon commitment to peace became a common virtue" in Portsmouth in 1905.  Trail map.
