Established in 1976, the Press Room offers jazz, blues, and folk music seven nights a week. The Red Door Hush Hush Sweet Harlot is a music series started by Sidney Alexis in the fall of 2003.  Laurel Brauns took over the booking of the series in January 2005.  The purpose of the series is to provide a smaller venue for music in the Portsmouth area.  Manager Cresta Smith has created an atmosphere that is mysterious, historic and dreamy, making it the perfect room to absorb the quieter side of indie-rock, alternative and americana.

The Hush Hush Sweet Harlot series brings in bands/artists from the Northeast as well as national touring acts that are coming through Boston and Portland.   So far this year we've had Micah Blue Smaldone, Unbunny, Jason Anderson, Tigersaw, Soltero, Seekonk, Jon Nolan, The Castanets, Ponies in the Surf, The Texas Governor, Mittens, Choo Choo La Rouge, Rachael Cantu and the Phantom Buffalo to list a few.  Shows run from 8pm-10pm and there is a five dollar suggested donation that goes to the bands.  107 State Street, Portsmouth, NH 03801, p: 603.373.6827, .  For booking information, contact laurel brauns, po box 834, portsmouth nh  03802, reddoorbooking@yahoo.com
